Helvetica aims to make its properties more energy-efficient and sustainable. Together with enshift AG, a comprehensive transition to renewable energy is being pursued. A key project of this initiative is equipping multiple buildings with solar panels to ensure a local, sustainable energy supply. An important milestone in this endeavor is the conversion of the commercial building in Thun.

More Information

A state-of-the-art photovoltaic system with an installed capacity of 515 kWp has been installed on the industrial property in Thun, covering a roof area of 2,575 m². The system not only reduces external electricity consumption but also makes a significant contribution to climate protection. The annual CO₂ savings of 35,471 kg highlight the positive environmental impact of this project, making the building a model for sustainable commercial properties. As part of the project, the roof of a neighboring property owned by an inheritance community was also used for renewable energy generation. This previously unused space provided an ideal opportunity to expand the solar portfolio. With an installed capacity of 370 kWp, this system generates green electricity that is supplied directly to a nearby Coop distribution center. Through this intelligent connection between electricity producers and consumers, a regional, sustainable energy network is created. Coop benefits from more stable and predictable electricity costs, while the inheritance community gains a long-term return by utilizing its roof space. Collaboration with enshift AG enables a sustainable and economically viable energy supply. This project demonstrates how innovative energy solutions are actively shaping the future of the real estate industry.

Solar system

As part of a full-scale energy modernization for the Helvetica Buchs 3 commercial property, enshift AG conducted a comprehensive analysis to unlock the site’s renewable energy potential. This assessment identified 2,865 m² of rooftop space ideal for solar, resulting in the installation of a 573 kWp photovoltaic (PV) system.

The system not only supports sustainability targets by cutting CO₂ emissions by 8,859 kg annually—a 31.7% reduction—but also delivers strong financial performance with a projected gross yield of 10.7%. This balance of environmental impact and economic return highlights the long-term value of strategic solar integration for portfolio assets.

Advantages of our holistic approach

The reversible heat pumps provide sustainable heating in winter and cooling in summer – independent of outside temperatures

Helvetica benefits from state-of-the-art technology and cost savings without needing to invest its own capital

Combining with a powerful PV system enables the use of self-produced solar energy, increasing self-consumption and economic viability

In addition to reducing operating costs and CO₂ emissions, the solution improves the property’s energy rating, increases marketability, and reduces long-term vacancy risk
